How to play Perudo dice

Perudo is an old South American gambling game, now available at most online casino websites, that is all about lying. Perudo means ‘without truth in your pocket’ and as the name suggests it is all about lying or catching others lying. Each player has five perudo dice that they roll inside a cup that is upturned onto a table. With each set of dice hidden beneath each players’ perudo cup the game begins in earnest. Players take turns to make a perudo bid as to what is the value of the hidden dice.

Before making a perudo bid, each player can check the value of their own dice while keeping them hidden from the other players beneath the perudo cup. Based on the value of their own perudo dice each player guesses the combined face value of all of the dice on the table. The aim of the game, similar to that of online poker, is not so much to make a correct guess as to make your opponents incorrectly challenge your guess.

As the round progresses players try to bluff their opponents into making a mistaken estimate of the value of the perudo dice. If a player thinks an opponent has made an erroneous perudo bid he can challenge it. The contents of each perudo cup are then checked and face values added up.

Whichever of the two players is found to be in error, whether the bidder or the challenger, then loses a perudo dice from their set of five. A new round is started and each player once again plays his or her dice keeping them hidden beneath the perudo cup. The game continues with each challenge against a perudo bid resulting in one player losing a dice. The winner is that last player left at the table with any dice.
